Mission Statement: “Safe and appropriate housing for all”

Where we are going:

As part of community planning efforts, a Housing Strategy has been developed to address the Nation's housing needs. The lands portion of the plan prioritizes new housing development, recommending cluster construction for federal funding access and communal services. Opportunities for infill housing, rebuilding in serviced clusters, and identifying a location for an Elders development are also highlighted.

The community is making significant strides in addressing housing concerns, with a substantial number of residents set to benefit from upcoming completions in 2024.

Renovations: All requests for renovations must be submitted to the Department through a documentation process. The Department will not accept verbal requests. If the applicant is unable to document the request at the time of request, the Assistant will document the request for the applicant.

Plumbing: All plumbing concerns must be reported to the Department for proper documentation and to then forward the information for assessment and repairs. It is the Occupant’s responsibility to inform the Department of any plumbing concerns that need to be addressed within the home before the conditions deteriorate.

Housing Selection Policy: Housing priorities will be based on the applicants’ current situation. This is not a first come first serve basis. Priority will be given to those with the greatest need. The final decision will be made based on the current situation and greatest need of all applicants.

For more information, please refer to the policy and housing department.
